Sonnets Minis classes are an introduction to the performing arts, STAS
foundation stage. The classes consist of 20 minutes of each discpline: Drama,
Singing and Dance. It is a fast moving class to keep young children
engaged and focused.
Minis Drama - children will all develop confidence and drama
games and exercises encourage them gently, the drama element of the class works
on 4 key areas:
1. Imagination and character work - Using the imagination, having ideas and
sharing them with the class. Developing a character from a story.
2. Voice projection - speaking up in class and articulation, using tongue
twisters and games.
3. Confidence - to speak up and participate.
4. Team work - drama exercises and games in teams, working together.
Minis Singing - children will learn songs by memory, they are
not expected to be able to read song sheets, and it is not a technical class.
They will sing songs from musicals to pop music.
Minis Dance - learn dance routines to musical theatre and pop
music. Musicality skills (count the beats to music) and simple fun
routines.
STAS Minis get to perform on a professional stage and showcase a performance
piece to their parents once a year.
Minis classes only run in Andover, Marlborough, Salisbury
& Cirencester. At other
locations we offer 1 hour and 20 minutes of just singing and dance in our
youngest group as an alternative, until they are able to cope with a full 2 hour
class. Sonnets classes aim to be as flexible as possible as every child is
different.
