Pupils are expected to arrive 30 minutes before their schools showcase and sign
in backstage. Each Showcase is 50-90 minutes.
STAS Productions aims to provide
opportunities for pupils at Sonnets Theatre Arts School to perform on a
professional stage each year. This helps pupils transfer their learnt
skills onto the stage and enhances confidence building and team work skills.
Sonnets Theatre Arts School pupils get to experience the bright lights and excitment of performing on
a professional stage and
backstage is a hive of excitment too. Sonnets pupils
who start off nervous, can't wait to get back on stage! STAS
Productions are a highlight of the year for most pupils.
Pupils from Sonnets Theatre Arts School will perform a piece from each class they attend, which means everyone gets
to act, sing and dance in a show every year. Sonnets Showcase is a variety
show that gives all Sonnets pupils of varying ability equal opportunity to
perform on stage.
David Phaure (STAS owner) is the shows compare and pianist, and occassionally
you may hear him joining in and singing along!
We do also occassionally perform at fete's in the summer.
If children want to be involved in a musical theatre production each year, we
run Musical Theatre Workshops in the Summer Holidays, past performances have
been: Kids will Rock you and Bugsy Malone. In 2012 we will be running Summer
Workshops in Andover and Marlborough,

STAS Events hosts and project manages Community Events to
encourage young people to participate in the performing arts. A recent
project was in February 2011 Half term, we hosted a Musical Theatre Boot Camp
for acts taking part in the Mayor of Test Valley's 'Test Valley's Got Talent'
competition.
We have project managed a range of events to launch the regeneration
of Andover from Christmas Lights Switch ons with snow special effects, to the
first Summer Music Festival in the park. Along side school outreach programmes such as the Andover
XFactor competition, sponsored by local companies this ran each year from
2006-2009.
